Cockpit Country Stakeholders Group Established |

The recent announcement of an unlimited prospecting license for mining interests in the Cockpit Country has generated a swell of stakeholder concerns over the ecological, hydrological and botanic future of the Cockpit Country. At a recent press conference, JEAN members presented numerous concerns about how mining may negatively affect the future of Jamaica's single-largest watershed area.
Since the announcement of these plans, the following organizations have joined to illuminate the fragility of the Cockpit Country, and its importance to Jamaica's island ecology:
